Dr. Richard C. Adams, DDS

Dr. Richard C. Adams has provided oral surgery care to Fayetteville area residents since 1997. He earned his undergraduate degree and his dental degree at The Ohio State University.  Post graduate residencies at The Ohio State University, allowed him to develop greater expertise in Oral Surgery treatment. 

Dr. Adams, a native of Toledo, Ohio is a graduate of The Ohio State University and The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Dr. Adams’ training continued with an intensive four year residence in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. 

Dr. Adams’ active professional dental affiliations include the American Society of Dental Anesthesia, American Dental Association, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Training and Scope of Practice

After four years of dental school, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons complete four or more years of hospital-based surgical residency training. Their residency includes rotations through related medical fields, including internal medicine, general surgery, anesthesiology, otolaryngology, plastic surgery, emergency medicine and other medical specialty areas.

At the conclusion of this demanding program, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons are well-prepared to perform the full scope of the specialty, which encompasses the diagnosis, surgical and related management of diseases, injuries and defects that involve both the functional and aesthetic aspects of the oral and maxillofacial regions. This includes preventive, reconstructive or emergency care for the teeth, mouth, jaws and associated facial structures.
